Hyack Swim Club Parent Agreement Policy

Philosophy:

Hyack Swim Club is committed to providing our athletes with an environment that will enable them to achieve their potential as well as an environment in which all individuals (athletes, coaches, staff and families) are treated with respect. An encouraging parent goes a long way in the development and achievement of a swimmer and effects the environment that they train / compete in. We like to promote a supportive atmosphere for all of our athletes and families. Support your swimmers’ sport of choice.

Parent Agreement

I understand that my involvement with the HYACK Swim Club will require parent assistance and that there are obligations I will incur as a club member. As a parent of a swimmer and participant of the HYACK Swim Club, I will abide by the following guidelines in addition to HYACK HANDBOOK in particular Section 4.9 in the Hyack Handbook, Code of Conduct Section

4.8.1 in the Hyack Handbook, SWIM BC Swim Guide.

1. I will practice teamwork with all parents, swimmers and coaches by supporting the values of discipline, loyalty, commitment and hard work.

2. I will make an appointment with the coach at a time other than practice or a meet if I have questions or concerns about how he/she performs his/her job.

3. I will not coach or instruct the team or any swimmer at a practice or meets (from the stands or any other area) that interfere with coaches on the pool deck.

4. I will support and be involved with the Hyack Swim Club by using positive communication, by volunteering when needed, by participating in fundraising activities and by keeping my accounts up-to-date.

5. I will demonstrate good sportsmanship by conducting myself in a manner that earns the respect of my child, other swimmers, parents, officials and the coaches at meets and practices.

6. I will maintain self-control at all times. Know my role.

7. I understand that criticizing, name-calling, use of abusive language or gestures, negative gossip and complaining towards the coaches, officials, volunteers, and/or any participating swimmer or their family, any volunteer officials or anyone involved in the greater swim community will not be tolerated and I may be asked to leave the program.

8. During meets/competitions: I will direct any questions or comments regarding decisions made by meet officials to a member of our coaching staff. I will abide by any decisions of the coaching staff and I understand that parents address officials via the coaching staff only after the completion of the meet session and/or meet.

9. I understand that my volunteer efforts are an integral part of the success of the team and I will complete my volunteer responsibilities by volunteering my time to assist in meets, social events and fundraising activities. I understand that volunteer organizations such as HYACK Swim Club depend on the energy and goodwill of parents to fulfill numerous, essential roles. When I have an issue with meet coordinators or Board members, I will respect that these are all volunteers working on my child’s behalf. If I feel the need to take issue with any member of our ‘team’, I will do so privately and directly with the people involved. If resolution is not achieved, I will contact the club President.

10. I will ensure that my swimmer understands that internet web sites, such as, but not limited to, Facebook, on which people socialize and exchange information, shall not be used to post

remarks or pictures that can be considered inflammatory, degrading or in poor taste toward any

other athletes (HYACK or otherwise), coach or volunteer.

11. Sanctions: Any Member, member of a member or individual member of a member themselves  in such a way that brings discredit or discord to the HYACK Swim Club Programs, or coaching staff, I voluntarily subject myself to disciplinary action. The HYACK Swim Club maintains the right to terminate any membership with/without cause in the interest of our vision, mission and objectives.

12. A productive and safe atmosphere promoting camaraderie and family values is accomplished through the collaborative efforts of our parents, athletes, coaches and staff. With these values in mind, I understand that failure to comply with these Codes may result in

appropriate action as determined by the HYACK Board, up to and including termination of membership.

13. Should I conduct myself in such a way that brings discredit or discord to the HYACK Swim

Club, Swim BC or Swim Canada I acknowledge that I will be subject to disciplinary action. The HYACK Swim Club maintains the right to terminate any participation with/without cause in the interest of our vision, mission and objectives. By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read and agree to abide by the above conditions.
